Mavs Blaze Blazers
The game was going really smooth for the Mavericks. Sure they started off in the first quarter down by 8 as the Blazers got off to a quick start with a 10-2 score but that quickly changed as Dirk was on fire, putting the Mavs up by 10 or so points after the first quarter. Dirk scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half before getting into foul trouble.
I swear the 3rd quarter was a mess. Both teams couldn't so much as breathe without getting a foul called. This I'm assuming frustrated the Mavericks, getting 4 technical fouls in the quarter, two going to Josh Howard and getting ejected from the game. His flagrant foul was really unjustified and uncalled for. He actually deserved to get ejected after giving the ref some lip.
The Blazers then pulled ahead taking their first lead since the first quarter but this soon changed once Little Jose and Bass took over after Terry pushed the Mavs back on top with a huge three pointer. From that point on, the Mavericks didn't let go and forced the Blazers to lose on Christmas for the first time after going 13-0 in their previous 13 Christmas games.
The Mavericks are now 17-11 and have won their last 3 games. They play the Jazz tonight which will be a good test of how far they've come since the beginning of the season.
Quick Recap
Been out for a while with no time to update this site. So here's a few quick updates for the Mavericks last few games.
Dec. 15 - Mavs 88 Nuggets 98
Dec. 17 - Mavs 96 Raptors 86
Dec. 19 - Mavs 97 Nets 121
Dec. 21 - Mavs 97 Wizards 86
Dec. 23 - Mavs 100 Grizzlies 82
The Mavericks are now 16-11 winning 3 of their last 5.
Mavs Hold Off Thunder
It was the Dirk and Terry show tonight. No other Maverick got double digit scoring and with this type of game play from your supporting bench means you barely win games.
Despite Dirk getting 46 points and Terry supporting him with 28, the Mavericks barely won this game against probably the worst team in the NBA right now.
Mavs Defeat Bobcats 95-90
Dirk hit a go ahead 3 pointer in the last 30 seconds of the game to hold off the Bobcats from winning their first game ever against the Mavericks.
The Mavericks are now 10-0 against the Bobcats.
The Bobcats recently acquired both Diaw and Bell from the Suns, both did not play but the Bobcats with Okafor could be a deadly team with contention potential.
Jason Terry scored 11 of his 26 points in the 4th quarter, being the scoring leader for the Mavericks.
2 OT Ends 5 Game Home Streak
The Spurs pulled away with the win after 2 OT, winning 133-126. Duncan scored 8 of his 32 points in the decision 2nd OT quarter.
Kidd almost pulled away with a triple double, scoring 24 points, 12 assists and having 8 rebounds.
Little Jose had another good night being 3rd in scoring for the Mavericks with 21.
The Mavericks also learned that Josh Howard is out indefinitely with his ailing ankle injury that has kept him from playing in their last 8 games. Quite frankly this is only their second loss in the last 10 games, I'd say they're doing fine without their second lead man in scoring and rebounding.
The Little Jose Who Could!
What did the Mavericks put in Little Jose's drink? It must have been magical or something as suddenly the kid has confidence and part of the reason the Mavericks have won four straight games.
The Mavericks beat the Hawks 100-98 with Dirk gathering 24 points and Little Jose as the second leading scorer with 22 points, a career high.
Perhaps the coaches saw the potential in Little Jose and he's now are secret weapon, maybe a reason we did trade Harris and grabbed Kidd to shape this young one into a better player with more confidence to possibly become a respected point guard in the NBA.
Mavs 112 Suns 97
Dirk got 39 points with 9 rebounds to lead the Mavericks with a win over the Suns tonight after losing to the Lakers a few days ago and getting revenge against the Clippers.
Little Jose had another great game, getting 18 points with 3 boards and 4 assists, playing 30 minutes. He was also on the starting squad this game. Perhaps I've underestimated Little Jose, maybe he can turn out to be a great player.
Dampier got a game high 14 rebounds.
The Mavericks are now 1 game above .500 and have won 8 of their last 9 games. This is a promising sign from the start of the season when they went 2-7, losing to teams that are usual victims to this same squad the past few seasons.
