Yaoless Rockets Lose To Mavs
The Rockets were Yaoless. The Mavericks were Howardless. So Terry stepped up to the plate and delivered what I think is what won the game.
Terry ended up with 31 points after hitting his first 7 shots and ending the first half with 18 points.
Nowitzki had 24 points and 12 rebounds to contribute. Is it me or when Terry and Nowitzki both do well in the same game, the Mavericks are unstoppable? Terry is known to have good games against the Rockets on the road.
This is the Mavericks 3rd straight win now bringing them to 5-7 on the season. Their next game is against the Grizzlies which should bring in a 4th straight win.
Mavs Blowout Bobcats
Looks like our top 3 guys all stayed in the game for the full game. Wonderful performances from Nowitzki, Howard and Terry.
Although the Bobcats aren't the greatest team in the world, for a minute there they looked better than the Mavericks.
The Mavs did accomplish in forcing the Bobcats to have the second longest opening shutout in a game. Their first score came with around 5:42 left in the first quarter.
Mavs Win In OT
So can we start winning again? I was actually worried about this game. Any other game against the Knicks in the past few years and I wouldn't have been worried. But the Mavs finally beat the odds of playing so shitty in the final quarters to tie it up and take control in OT for a 124-114 win.
Nowitzki had 39 points and 15 rebounds. Howard had 31 points and 14 rebounds.
The Mavericks avoided their first 6 game losing skid which was back in March of 2000.
Another Home Loss
Final score 102-100.
Yes, you heard me. Another home loss for the Mavericks. It was the first time since 1997 the Magic have won a game against the Mavericks at home.
The Mavericks blew another 15 point lead at one point in the 4th quarter to make it their 7th loss of the season. They are now 0-4 at home with their 5th straight loss to have a 2-7 record, in dead last. I never thought I'd see the Grizzlies ahead of the Mavericks in the standings.
Sure it's still early in the season but if we keep blowing off leads after the half, we're not gonna even make it to the playoffs.
Another Crappy Game: Bulls Recap
So the Mavericks showed up for the first quarter, I think they took the rest of the game off. How in the hell do you start off a game being up 24-5 and end up losing 98-91?
It seems to me, if one player shows up and plays their heart out, the rest of the team doesn't. Howard came back after being out a few games with a sore wrist to be their leading scorer with 21 and had 11 rebounds. Dampier had the type of game he should have every night with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
And how in the hell does Nowitzki get 5 assists and Kidd only gets 4 for the night? I don't think Nowitzki show up at all with only 12 points and 6 rebounds. We might have won if Green played in place of Nowitzki. At least I'm sure he would have put in a little more effort since he's working hard to make something of himself while Howard was out.
The Mavericks are now 2-6, haven't won at home yet and have lost to teams that are or were sub par. Now the Mavericks are looking to be that team this year. This is the same team almost that went to the finals. The only major change since that time is Kidd and Carlisle.
Kidd might be a HOF but I'm really beginning to think he wasn't the perfect fit for this team. We'd be better off with Harris at PG. At least with Harris, when the other guys are sluggish, he could keep the opponents on their edge by running around like a 6 year old on crack with unlimited amounts of energy.
Loss to Lakers Recap
I saw this coming. I knew the Mavericks would be 0-3 at home after facing the Lakers last night. Of course they started off strong but that seems way to familiar at times with the Mavericks.
The Mavericks seem to have such energy in the first two quarters then lose all the momentum after half time. They come off as an older team that can't keep up after wasting all their energy in the first two quarters.
I hate saying this but the Lakers are the better team, they're doing everything right. The Hornets are doing it right as well. I think the Kidd trade is proving that old dogs and their tricks can't keep up. Althought Kidd is doing well, he needs a supporting cast to help win games.
Sure we have a new coach but we need some new players. I see some promising players in Green, Diop and Bass but beyond that, it's hard to say the rest have championship quality in them. Dirk might benefit from a trade to get a championship because if he sticks with the Mavericks, he's not going to see a ring anytime soon.
The final tally was 106-99. Terry was the leading scorer for the Mavs with 21 points in 39 minutes. I like Terry but he's just so inconsistent, one night he can score 20 plus points, other nights he won't even break double digits.
Are You Kidding Me, The Clippers Won?
The Clippers were winless but that changed when they met the Mavericks this Sunday. I can understand having an off night but come on, the Clippers? This is a team the Mavericks beat with their eyes shut the past 3-4 seasons.
The way this team is playing now, we're not gonna even see the post season.
